PETRIE Dressage Boots are handmade in Holland, by master craftsmen, to meet the highest standards. 100s of standard leg height and calf width combinations will approximate a custom boot. Stiffener on the back side to the calf insures less breakdown, and a long lasting ribbed rubber sole and heel for superior grip. Fully lined, with Spanish cut. Size 4.5 to 13; ladies and mens sizes available.
TO MEASURE: Wear your breeches and socks. In a sitted position, measure the widest part of your calf. Measure in inches (then convert to centimeters).
Then measure the side of the leg from the floor to the indentation between the leg and the knee.

In 1952, for the first time in Olympic equestrian history, at Helsinki, four women were allowed to compete in Dressage.
One of the women was Lis Hartel of Denmark. Lis had contracted polio in 1944, but had regained the use of her limbs. She remained paralyzed below the knees, but had learned to do without those muscles.
In 1952, Lis was chosen to represent Denmark in the Olympics and earned the silver medal, although she had to be helped on and off her horse. Gold medallist Henri Saint Cyr helped her up onto the victory platform for the medal presentation.
